Motor Pacing
(Ride behind a motorcycle or other vehicle that breaks the wind)

Advantages:

  • Ride at race speed for extended periods
  • Practice Racing simulation => more attacks simulations than in a group (6-8 vs. 3-4)
  • Practice Field sprints: launch sprints from fresher rider at much higher speed (60 km/h)
  • Ride under wind conditions at much higher speed

Motor Pacing sessions featuring:

  • Vespa 150 cc
  • Coach-driver vs. operator-driver (read more in the box on the side)
  • Drills based on your racing goals (TT vs. Criterium)
    • Examples:
      • Steady State Tempo at 110-130 rpm (perfect for recovering after long climbs)
      • Threshold pace (but you will go at higher speed for the same effort level) for long intervals
      • Climbing Tempo Intervals with or without accelerations
      • Lead-outs
      • Come-arounds
      • Burn-off

Coach-driver vs. Operator driver
  • An operator-driver gets directions from the rider on what to do, at which speed to drive, for how long, etc…
  • A coach-driver directs and actively builds the workouts and look at your riding. If the driver is a coach:
    • You will get feedbacks and communications in real time.
    • You will feel more motivated to give your best and push harder
